Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia is located on Canada's east coast and one of four Atlantic provinces. Halifax is our capital city, which is closer to Boston and New York than any other major Canadian city.

Our summers are very comfortable (seldom extremely hot & humid) with moderate winters (seldom extremely cold), providing a wide range of available outdoor activities all year long.

You are never further than 35 kilometres (22 miles) away from the sea, which has so much shaped our province, history and culture.

You can sit on the shore of the Bay of Fundy and watch as the highest tides in the world roll in & out. Although we're almost completely surrounded by ocean, Nova Scotia has many, many beautiful  lakes, as well as parks, trails, and seaside villages.

The Halifax International Airport is the Atlantic Canadian hub for all domestic, regional and international services.

The Evangeline Trail:
The Story of Evangeline:
The history of Grand Pré, Acadian past and of the fictional character "Evangeline" is an interesting one filled with history and courage. Throughout this region, you will be reminded of the story of the tragic "Expulsion of the Acadians".
Nova Scotia's Evangeline Trail starts in Yarmouth County, covering one half of the south western tip of the province, and continues on into Mt. Uniacke, not far from Metro Halifax. In this region, the land and sea merge, the past lingers in the present and both French and English have found a home. Explore over 400 years of proud history and cultural diversity. Reflect on the strong Acadian and Loyalist influences.

The Bay of Fundy:
The Bay of Fundy was once one of the great discoveries of the "New World." Now you can make a few new discoveries of your own. With our unique museum tours, you can discover the early days of our shoreline, the people who settled there and the ways that they lived, played and worked.
The highest tides on Earth occur in the Minas Basin, the eastern extremity of the Bay of Fundy, where the average tide range is 12 metres and can reach 16 metres when the various factors affecting the tides are in phase.

The Town of Wolfville:
The Town of Wolfville welcomes you to the picturesque Annapolis Valley.
Originally know as Mud Creek, it got it's name in 1830 when two granddaughters of Judge Elisha DeWolfe convinced their postmaster uncle that a more suitable name was needed. The villagers chose the name Wolfville for their town. Today beautiful elm trees, manicured lawns and grand century old homes guide visitors down Wolfville's Main Street.
